Tip:
The maximum number of challenges that a project can apply to in a hackathon depends on the specific rules and requirements of the event. Here are a few factors to consider when setting the maximum number of challenges a project can apply to:
-
Size of the hackathon: If the hackathon is large with many participants, allowing projects to apply to multiple challenges can increase competition and spread out the participants. However, if the hackathon is smaller with fewer participants, allowing projects to apply to multiple challenges can be more manageable.
-
Resources and capacity of the organizing team: Consider the resources and capacity of the organizing team to judge and evaluate projects across multiple challenges.
-
Goals of the hackathon: If the goal of the hackathon is to promote focused, high-quality work in specific areas, it may be appropriate to limit the number of challenges a project can apply to.
A common approach is to limit projects to apply to one or two tracks at most. This can help ensure that participants are able to focus their efforts and produce high-quality work in a specific area while also allowing for fair competition across challenges.
