Successful hackathons create an environment that fosters learning, collaboration, motivation, and connection among participants. Incorporating workshops, AMAs (Ask Me Anything sessions), office hours, and kick-off events can significantly enhance the experience for both organizers and participants.
These events serve various purposes: they help set the stage for the hackathon by introducing its goals, rules, and schedule; facilitate brainstorming and idea refinement before participants delve into the actual hackathon; and bolster motivation and excitement, leading to increased commitment and improved overall performance.
By offering well-organized, engaging, and relevant events, hackathon organizers can create a more enriching experience for participants, ultimately resulting in more innovative and successful projects.
Create an Event Schedule
To add an event and create an event schedule for the hackathon, go to the hackathon dashboard, under "Manage Hackathon" select the "Calendar" tab, then click on "Add Event" to begin the process.
Note: the Calendar has its own designated section on the hackathon landing page.
Provide comprehensive details about the event, including:
- Event description
- Speakers
- Event dates
- Relevant links (e.g., Zoom, Airmeets, Twitter, or recordings)
Once you've filled out the information, click "Create Event." Your event is now live and visible on the hackathon landing page's dedicated Calendar section.
Share the event with ease using the "Share" link found within the event listing on the landing page.
Remember, all new hackathon participants will receive a direct link to the event schedule in their welcome email, ensuring that they're informed and ready to join in the fun.
Edit or delete an Event
Follow these steps to modify or remove an event from the schedule:
- On the hackathon dashboard, navigate Manage Hackathon section and select the "Calendar" tab.
- Locate the event you wish to edit or delete, and click to proceed.
- To update the event details, click the "Edit" button and make the necessary changes.
- If you'd like to remove the event, select the "Delete" button instead.
Note: Deleting an event from the schedule will permanently remove it from the Hackathon Landing page. Exercise caution when using this option to ensure you don't unintentionally delete important upcoming events.
